Vice President of Safety and Compliance Mike Cobb received the highest honor awarded to individual safety professionals, the Distinguished Service to Safety Award. Cobb was one of only six professionals honored for their dedication to safety and said that he was just the representative of a company-wide safety culture that produces outstanding results and that his award belonged to all of the employees, independent owner-operators, and agents.
Steve Hoefer, Orientation Coordinator, was also honored with the 2014 Instructor of the Year award as a Defensive Driving Course Instructor for Professional Truck Drivers.
He was selected from 9,000 certified instructors throughout the world. He also received the prestigious Training Center Award for Astonishing Achievement in Training for Professional Truck Drivers, which recognized the achievements and training of Landstar BCOs as being among the safest in the industry.
In September Landstar also received a Corporate Distinguished Service Award from the National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA) at their Annual Fall Conference. This was the 27th year that Landstar was recognized for providing outstanding services and making significant contributions in the areas of logistics transportation and association leadership as well as support of the transportation requirements of the United States military.
